Fair comes first

The magazine karriere awards its "Fair company" quality seal to companies who offer college
graduates real career opportunities - instead of using them as permanent student apprentices, as is often the case. Schaal.Trostner Kommunikation (STK) is one of 785 companies in Germany (including Audi, Bosch and Coca-Cola) for whom the following five basic principles are self-evident:

Full-time posts are not filled by student apprentices, alleged volunteers, etc.
If college graduates apply for a permanent position, they are not fobbed off with a student training post.
Vague prospects of subsequent full-time jobs are not dangled as bait in front of student apprentices.
Industrial placements are generally offered to provide professional orientation during the training phase.
Student apprentices are remunerated appropriately.

STK Managing Director Jürgen Schaal: "Either we provide full-time jobs, or student apprentices are given the opportunity to get to know the procedures and methods applied in a professional agency for a period of three months. It can't be right that extremely well trained academics are shamelessly exploited under the cover of the term 'student apprentice'."
